Darren Cooney has been an amazing resource for us. He came highly recommended via a friend.

 

We have a small acreage lot, predominantly on river flats with Stevenson river frontage in Marysville, which we acquired post bushfires. Darren has been invaluable in so many ways in this sensitive ecosystem: he has really brought our wishes to life, keeping a native bush feel within fire restrictions, appeasing council and reassuring neighbours, keeping costs down where possible, advising on plant choices, building external structures using sustainable materials and much more.

 

He has answered our questions and researched for solutions when needed, always coming back with informed ideas.

 

His passion for flora and fauna is apparent. He works with respect for the land and those who inhabit it.  Whilst in Marysville over the first year researching and working on our lot, Darren embarked on a public awareness campaign to educate the fire affected communities in the use of landscape design and plant selection to reduce fire danger to their property. From the feedback we have heard, it was very well received. We know of other property owners that have also used these guidelines when replanting their properties.
